The EV version is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture and supports 800V fast charging. Meanwhile, the PHEV variant is powered by the company’s fifth-generation DM-i hybrid technology; despite the difference in drivetrains, both versions of the Sealion 06 share a unified exterior design. The SUV features a closed front face with split-level headlamps, large corner intakes, a wavy rear light bar, and semi-recessed door handles. BYD offers the model in five exterior paint colours.

Inside the cabin, the Sealion 06 features a symmetrical dashboard layout, complete with a 15.6-inch floating central infotainment screen, a digital instrument cluster, and a flat-bottom four-spoke steering wheel. The centre console includes dual cupholders, a rotary temperature dial for the refrigerated compartment, and a wireless charging pad. The built-in refrigerator is capable of storing around four bottles. Two interior colour options are available.

The platform specifications design the powertrain layout. For the battery electric variants, all models are rear-wheel drive and built on either a 400V or 800V system. The entry-level EV, the Navigation 400V version, is equipped with a 65.28 kWh battery, producing 170 kW of power and 330 N·m of torque, with a CLTC range of 520 km. The 800V Navigation Pro and Navigation Plus versions utilise a 78.72 kWh battery, with motor output increased to 180 kW and a CLTC range of 605 km. The 800V platform enables higher charging efficiency.

The plug-in hybrid variants use BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i system, pairing a 1.5-litre engine rated at 74 kW and 126 N·m with a 160 kW, 260 N·m electric motor. The entry-level Pilot version features an 18.3 kWh battery, offering 121 km of CLTC electric-only range and a 3.3 kW external discharge capability. The Pilot Pro and Pilot Plus versions feature a 26.6 kWh battery, which increases the electric-only range to 170 km. These versions support 54 kW (peak) DC fast charging.

The vehicle measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. It uses a MacPherson front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension setup, and all variants are equipped with BYD’s intelligent damping control system, known as DiSus-C. The standard tire size is 235/50 R19, and the curb weight is approximately 1,890 kilograms (4,180 pounds).

For storage, the Sealion 06 EV features a 142-litre front trunk and a 757-litre rear trunk, which expand to 1,630 litres when the second-row seats are folded flat. Rear seat legroom and hip space are rated at 1,480 mm. Across all variants, BYD features ventilated and heated front seats utilising an air-suction cooling method, a panoramic sunroof measuring 1.73 square meters, and a Dynaudio speaker system—the latter being exclusive to the segment.

Advanced safety and assisted driving features are standard across the lineup. This includes seven airbags, more than 30 safety functions, and BYD’s “God’s Eye” C version (DiPilot 100) intelligent driving system. While current functionality is limited to highway NOA (navigation-assisted driving), the system is expected to expand via future updates. The Sealion 06 also supports “Sentinel Mode” and “Remote View” features, and includes NFC-based key access and in-vehicle ETC. A high-coverage rear wiper provides 87.3% coverage of the rear windshield.
