Chery‘s iCAR officially released spy photos of its all-new mid-to-large-sized SUV – the iCAR V27 – and announced that the vehicle will make its global debut in Dubai on August 1. From the design perspective, the new model embraces a rugged off-road style, while the powertrain is expected to feature an extended-range system.

Based on previously disclosed information, CarNewsChina estimates the price range between 200,000 and 250,000 yuan (28,000−35,000 USD), with an expected market launch in 2025.

The official spy photos reveal that the new vehicle continues the currently popular “boxy” design, exuding an off-road presence. The headlights feature a rectangular design with circular LED daytime running lights inside. The front grille has a layered appearance that integrates with the thick front bumper, while the vehicle visibly boasts a generous approach angle for off-road capability.

On the side profile, the V27 features wide fender flares at both front and rear wheel arches. The roofline and overall exterior contours maintain a squared-off appearance, complemented by five-spoke wheels that enhance the vehicle’s visual width. Additionally, the rear section of the vehicle is heavily camouflaged, suggesting it may offer a respectable three-row seating configuration.

At the rear, the SUV is equipped with a roof spoiler, while the spare tire housing incorporates a high-mounted brake light. The taillights adopt a dual rectangular arrangement, and the rear door features a side-hinged design. The rear bumper’s styling echoes the front end’s design language, reinforcing the rugged off-road visual appeal.

Regarding performance, according to currently available information, the new vehicle is expected to be powered by an extended-range system combining a 1.5T engine with electric motors, offering both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. The four-wheel drive variant is anticipated to deliver a maximum power output of 335 kW (449 hp). As an extended-range electric vehicle, its maximum pure electric range under CLTC conditions is about 200km.

Editor’s comment

Since the iCar trademark is owned by Apple, Chery’s iCAR has been renamed iCAUR in many overseas markets. Don’t worry, their designers have put a lot of thought into the logo design (see below) – when you see it, you’ll have to look very closely to tell it’s iCAUR and not iCAR.
