Dongfeng eπ Technology hosted its strategic planning and product launch event in Wuhan, unveiling a development roadmap that spans technology platforms, brand restructuring, product rollouts, and overseas expansion. The company also confirmed a partnership with Huawei to develop a new premium vehicle line jointly.

Formed through the merger of Dongfeng’s eπ (Yipai), Fengshen, and Nano sub-brands, Dongfeng eπ Technology aims to respond to consumer demand for electrified and intelligent vehicles. It will operate under two primary brand pillars: Dongfeng eπ and Dongfeng Fengshen.

During the event, Dongfeng eπ announced plans to introduce solid-state battery EVs by 2026. The batteries will use a silicon-carbon and high-nickel combination, combined with high-conductivity solid electrolytes. According to the company, this setup is designed to enhance energy density and thermal stability, with a target driving range exceeding 1,000 km.

Another significant development is a next-generation electric platform featuring a voltage architecture exceeding 1,000V. The system will incorporate a 1,700V silicon carbide power module, a peak 12C charging rate, and a high-speed 30,000 rpm motor. Dongfeng eπ is also working on a “dual megawatt fast charge” system, aimed at enabling 450 km of range replenishment in five minutes. The first vehicle using this platform is scheduled to launch in 2026.

The Dongfeng eπ brand will be divided into two product lines. The first is the “Mainstream Technology Series”, which includes the Nano 01, Nano 06, eπ 007, and eπ 008—targeting younger, tech-savvy consumers. The second is a “Smart Premium Series”, which will be co-developed with Huawei. This new lineup will debut with a full-size SUV in 2026, featuring Huawei’s HarmonyOS 5 ingenious cockpit and QianKun ADS 4 driver assistance system.

Meanwhile, the Dongfeng Fengshen brand will focus on small to mid-sized vehicles, with a plan to launch or update at least two models per year and a total of 10 models by 2028.

International expansion also featured prominently in Dongfeng eπ’s strategy. The company aims to introduce over 30 international models by 2027, supporting both left- and right-hand drive markets. A global retail network of more than 2,000 outlets is planned by that same year.

Two production models were unveiled at the event. The 2026 eπ 008, an updated version of the eπ 008 SUV, includes upgraded materials, new seat functions, and a cockpit powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SA8295P chip. Pricing ranges from 173,600 yuan to 190,600 yuan (approx. 23,900 to 26,200 USD), offered as a limited-time launch price.

Also debuting was the Dongfeng Fengshen L8, a five-seat SUV with a 4,762 mm length and 2,825 mm wheelbase. Features include ventilated and heated front seats, driver massage functionality, and a rear entertainment display. Powered by Dongfeng’s Mach hybrid system, the L8 offers a 248 km electric range and a combined driving range of up to 2,245 km. Fuel consumption is rated at 2.4L/100km.
