Xpeng unveils P7 interior ahead of 6 August debut: 87‑inch AR‑HUD and company‑claimed touch pad tech suite
Xpeng Motors has unveiled new details about the upcoming P7 sedan on its official Weibo account, including interior features, design changes, and powertrain options. The vehicle, positioned as a tech-focused, premium electric fastback, will make its official debut this week.
According to official announcements, the new P7 introduces several features not currently available in its segment. These include an 87-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), which Xpeng claims is the largest in its class, and an industry-first “Touch Pad” control interface.
The interior layout centres around what the company calls a “technology island,” combining the AR-HUD with a tri-spoke sport steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster with multiple driving and entertainment modes, and a new tri-axis rotating infotainment screen. Xpeng describes this display as a voice-activated assistant capable of motion-based responses, including nodding.
Interior equipment also includes integrated front sport seats with active side bolsters that react within 10 milliseconds and can adjust laterally by up to 30 mm. The vehicle further supports various comfort and utility functions such as seat heating, ventilation, massage, and trunk access via the touch pad. The AR-HUD includes navigation and driver-assistance overlays, as well as interactive AR games.

The new P7 adopts a streamlined, angular exterior design overseen by French designer Rafik Ferrag. It maintains a fastback silhouette and features a deployable rear wing. According to regulatory filings, the car measures 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,008 mm. The body uses a unibody construction.
The new model will offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants. The RWD version comes with a 270 kW single motor, while the AWD variant features dual motors (167 kW front + 270 kW rear), delivering a combined output of 437 kW. Battery packs will be available in two sizes: 74.9 kWh and 92.2 kWh. Based on China’s CLTC standard, estimated driving ranges are 702 km for the base RWD, 820 km for the long-range RWD, and 750 km for the AWD model.

All versions will support 800V silicon carbide (SiC) high-voltage architecture and 5C fast charging. This platform enables significantly quicker charging times. For reference, Xpeng’s G7 SUV, which shares the same charging system, can add up to 436 km of range in 10 minutes under optimal conditions.
Battery suppliers listed in regulatory filings include EVE Energy and CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery). Specific battery availability may vary by trim.
Xpeng said the new P7 has been in development for five years, with input from both its China and overseas design teams. The company aims to position the model as a strong contender in the mid-to-premium electric sedan segment, competing against vehicles like the Tesla Model 3 and Xiaomi SU7.
