Geely Galaxy to add an all-electric variant to its Starshine 8 sedan series
Geely Galaxy is adding a BEV variant to its Starshine 8 sedan lineup as it recently applied for a sales license in China, according to the filing info. The new car has the same exterior design as the current PHEV model on the market and is equipped with a 250 kW (335 hp) electric motor.

The Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV was launched in May, offering seven trims, priced from 125,800 to 165,800 yuan (17,400 – 22,900 USD). Consumers can choose from CLTC pure electric ranges of 60 km and 130 km as well as two comprehensive ranges of 1,500 km and 1,600 km.

The BEV variant shares the same design as the PHEV variant. Both adopt Geely Galaxy’s latest “Ripple Aesthetics” design language, featuring a fastback shape, slender headlights, hidden door handles, and through-type taillights. In the rear, the “Starshine 8 EV” logo is located on the lower right corner, highlighting the vehicle’s identity.
The body dimensions are also the same: 5018/1918/1480 mm (l/w/h), with a 2928 mm wheelbase, and built based on Geely’s GEA-Evo architecture. The curb weight is 2,030 kg, which is heavier than the PHEV variant (1,760 kg to 1,908 kg).

Optional configurations include a roof lidar, rim styles, privacy glass, window frame, a rear spoiler, and blackened side mirrors. The tire specifications are 245/45 R19 and 245/40 R20.
Power comes from a 250 kW electric motor, matched with lithium iron phosphate batteries. The top speed is 210 km/h. The powertrain details, range info, and launch date are still pending the official announcement.

In July, Geely Galaxy sold 95,043 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 237%; in the first seven months of this year, Geely Galaxy’s cumulative sales have reached 640,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 233%. In particular, 10,100 units of the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 were sold in July, crowning the sales champion of China’s mid-to-high-end plug-in hybrid sedan for 11 consecutive weeks.
