Nissan introduces N6 PHEV in China following its N7 EV success
Details regarding a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) from Dongfeng-Nissan, named the Nissan N6, have surfaced through its declaration information in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filings. The new model is set to feature a PHEV system combining a 1.5L engine with an electric motor.
The Nissan N6 will be powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine (model NR15) with a maximum output of 75 kW (101 hp), paired with an electric drive motor capable of 155 kW (208). The battery pack will utilise lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, supplied by Rept Battero Energy Co., Ltd.
In terms of design, the Nissan N6 shares a similar aesthetic with the Nissan N7. It adopts a closed-off grille and a “star-ring” continuous light strip, with an illuminated Nissan logo expected. Below the continuous light strip, boomerang-shaped headlamp clusters provide a visual signature.

Measuring 4831mm in length, 1885mm in width, and 1491mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2815mm, the N6 is positioned as a mid-size sedan. Hidden door handles characterise its side profile. The rear also features a through-type taillight design, with the “NISSAN” lettering centrally located within the light bar, which is also anticipated to illuminate.

On May 15, Dongfeng Nissan’s first BEV vehicle, the N7, surpassed 10,000 orders 18 days after its launch, becoming the fastest joint-venture pure electric vehicle to reach this milestone in the industry.
In June, Dongfeng Motor announced the formation of a joint venture with NCIC (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nissan) to engage in automotive export business. Among the EVs slated for export is the N7 mid-size sedan. The N7 starts at 119,900 yuan (16,450 USD) in China. Based on its name and energy type, CarNewsChina believes the N6 will be cheaper than the N7 and will likely also be used by Nissan for export.
