Dongfeng opened its Aeolus L8 plug-in hybrid SUV for pre-sale on August 11 in China, with two official pure electric ranges of 112 km and 185 km, and a real-world tested comprehensive range of 2245.3 km. Four trims are offered priced from 129,900 to 149,900 yuan (18,100 to 20,900 USD). The Aeolus L8 will also be exported overseas to the Middle East and South America.

Six exterior paints are available: white, green, two shades of gray, silver, and black.

The appearance features a long through-type light strip on both the closed front face and rear, semi-hidden door handles, and multi-spoke rims. The body dimensions are 4762/1910/1677 mm (l/w/h), with a 2825 mm wheelbase.

In terms of assisted driving, the official claimed 28 level 2 ADAS capabilities are supported.

The Dongfeng Mach Electric Hybrid system onboard the vehicle has a total system power of 265 kW (355 hp), consisting of a 1.5T engine, an electric motor, and a 30.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The officially announced all-electric range options (CLTC) are 125 km and 185 km. The real-world tested all-electric range is 248 km and the comprehensive range is 2245.3 km, by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC).

CATARC is a research institute established in 1985 in response to China’s need for management of the automotive industry.

Furthermore, the comprehensive fuel consumption is 2.4 L/100 km, also tested by CATARC. The battery pack supports 3C fast charging, with a 20% to 80% charge time of 18 minutes.

Inside, the cockpit has a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 14.6-inch floating central control screen with a built-in voice assistant powered by the DeepSeek and ByteDance’s Doubao AI models. A digital rearview mirror and six airbags are also present.

One of the 28 storage spaces throughout the interior is located under the hollow center console structure. An 15.6-inch 2.5K ceiling screen provides additional entertainment access to the rear passengers.

The seats are equipped with 24 massage modes, three-speed ventilation, and heating.

The sound system comprised of 19 speakers.

The interior comes with a 4.5 L in-vehicle refrigerator with a temperature range of 12°C to 42°C and rear tray tables with dimensions of 220/330 mm (l/w) and a load capacity of 10 kg.
