GAC’s Hyptec HL EREV with CATL Freevoy battery and Xingyuan system launched, starting at 37,600 USD
GAC’s Hyptec brand officially launched the EREV variant of its Hyptec HL SUV on the Chinese market. Available in four trims, 5- and 6-seater layouts, the new model is priced between 269,800 and 299,800 yuan (37,600 to 41,700 USD). Equipped with GAC’s latest Xingyuan range-extender system, the Hyptec HL boasts a CLTC pure electric range of 350 km and a comprehensive range of 1,369 km.
Consumers can also enjoy lifetime free charging across Hyptec’s charging network.

The EREV has the same design as that of the BEV variant. The chassis adopts a front double-wishbone and a rear five-link suspension system. The suspension stiffness can be automatically adjusted by leveraging the camera and lidar sensor data to predict road obstacles.

Additionally, the front face features a screen that can display customized text digitally.

The advanced driving assistance system comes from GAC’s mapless GSD (GAC Self-Driving) that ultilizes Momenta’s algorithm, powered by a Nvidia Drive Orin-X chip. The entire series is equipped with a roof lidar, three millimeter-wave radars, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars.

Power comes from GAC’s latest Xingyuan range-extender system, which aims to address three pain points: high fuel consumption, slow acceleration, and high vibration and noise, according to the official. The system consists of an 1.5DHE engine and a rear electric motor, matched with CATL’s 60.33 kWh Freevoy (ternary lithium) Super Hybrid battery pack.

The engine is compatible with both #92 and #95 gasoline. The maximum power of the motor is 250 kW (335 hp) and the peak torque is 430 Nm.
The fuel tank volume is 53L, the WLTC fuel consumption is 6.7L/100km, and the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time is 7.5 seconds. Under 5C fast-charging, it takes 10 minute to recharge the range by 210 km.

Built based on GAC’s AEP 3.0 platform, the Hyptec HL has body dimensions of 5126/1990/1750 mm (l/w/h) and a wheelbase of 3088 mm.

Both 5- and 6-seater layouts are offered. For the 6-seater, the trunk volume can be expanded to 930 L after the third row is folded down.

The cabin features a flat-bottom steering wheel, an 8.8-inch rectangular instrument panel, a 27-inch HUD, and a 17.3-inch 3K central control screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip.

A 17.3-inch ceiling entertainment screen is also present for the rear passengers. Furthermore, the second row dual zero-gravity seats offer 12 massage modes. Other features include a 2.83 meters long side curtain airbag, dual 50W wireless fast charging, and 24 speakers.
