On August 21, Great Wall Motor’s (GWM) Haval brand teased its new second-generation Haval H9 SUV. Given that the new car retains the current model’s exterior and interior designs, it is likely to feature powertrain and intelligent configuration upgrades. The official debut is expected to occur at the upcoming Chengdu Auto Show that will open on August 29 in China.

For reference, the second-generation Haval H9 currently on sale was launched in September last year with a starting price of 199,900 yuan (28,400 USD) and powered by a gasoline engine. Subsequently, the diesel-powered variant was launched in December last year with a starting price of 233,900 yuan (32,200 USD).

The key parameters are:

  • AWD
  • Body dimensions: 5070(4950)/1960(1976)/1930 mm (l/w/h), with a 2850 mm wheelbase
  • Maximum wading depth: 800 mm
  • Approach angle: 31°
  • Departure angle: 26°/25°

Judging from the teaser images, the exterior of the new model is consistent with the current model, retaining the round headlights and adopting an all-black design, including the front grille, window frames, wheel eyebrows, side skirts, luggage rack, and rims.
