Camouflaged Xiaomi prototypes undergoing testing were captured in spy shots released by blogger @风清颂. The images reveal a vehicle that appears longer than the standard SU7, fueling speculation that it could be a long-wheelbase variant, informally called the “Xiaomi SU7 L.” The extended design is expected to improve second-row space for passengers requiring additional rear legroom. Xiaomi’s simultaneous testing of multiple prototypes, including the previously reported YU9 SUV prototype, and the YU7 GT (we reported as the YU7 Ultra), suggests the company is actively developing several new models in parallel.
The photos show a design that retains the SU7’s fastback profile but with a visibly stretched section behind the B-pillar. Estimates suggest its overall length could reach 5.2 meters, compared with the standard SU7’s 4,997 mm. The wheelbase may extend by 80–150 mm beyond the current 3,000 mm, significantly improving rear legroom.
While camouflaged, the test vehicle appears to keep the SU7’s wing-shaped front fascia and star-ring taillights. Analysts expect the extended model to be positioned as an executive sedan, shifting away from the sportier character of the standard version. Speculation points to potential upgrades such as wider rear seats, higher-quality interior materials, independent entertainment screens, and amenities such as a refrigerator. The approach has been compared to the Porsche Panamera Executive, which prioritises rear passenger experience.
For context, the current Xiaomi SU7 is marketed as a mid-sized high-performance electric sedan. It measures 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and 1,440 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase and a drag coefficient of 0.195. Xiaomi has not confirmed technical specifications for the prototype, though it is expected to continue using the 800V high-voltage platform and intelligent driving systems. A longer body requires retuned suspension to balance handling and ride quality.
Market speculation suggests the SU7 L could be priced above 400,000 yuan (approx. 55,800 USD), positioning it between domestic rivals such as the BYD Han L 4WD Flagship, priced at 279,800 yuan (approx. 39,030 USD), and the Tesla Model S, which starts at 684,900 yuan (approx. 95,550 USD) in China.
The prototype remains in an early testing phase, and Xiaomi has not confirmed its name, specifications, or release date. Industry observers suggest a possible market debut around 2026.
