GAC’s 5.3-meter Hyptec A800 EREV with 6-meter light strip and Huawei techs unveiled
GAC Hyptec’s first smart flagship EREV sedan A800 jointly developed with Huawei was officially unveiled at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show, equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4.0 and HarmonySpace 5 cockpit system. It is expected to be in the 300,000 yuan (41,900 USD) market segment and will officially enter the market in the fourth quarter of this year to compete with models such as the Stelato S9, Xiaomi SU7, and Avatr 12.
Hyptec is an NEV high-end brand under GAC, initially launched in 2023 as “Hyper”. Currently, its product portfolio on the market include the Hyptec HL, HT, GT, and SSR.

Overall, the GAC Hyptec A800 adopts a fastback design, paired with multi-spoke rims, hidden door handles, and a roof lidar to support the advanced driving assistance capabilities.

The front face features a 6-meter through-type light strip, the longest in the world, according to the official.

In the rear, the taillights consist of three light strips and the tail badge is labeled “A800” combined with the Huawei ADS logo.

The GAC Hyptec A800 measures 5130/ 1966/1500 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 3020 mm, positioned as a medium-to-large sedan.

Power comes from a range-extender system consisting of a 1.5T engine. The engine has a maximum power of 118 kW (158 hp), matched with lithium iron phosphate battery. The top speed is 185 km/h, based on declaration information from the Chinese MIIT.
It is worth pointing out that the Chinese MIIT filing showed several other tail badges including A8, A08, and A80. These may have been the alternative name options.
At this time, the remaining detailed powertrain specifications and the interior have not been revealed.
In July, Hyptec only sold 1, 537 vehicles, bringing its cumulative sales to 7,992 vehicles for the first seven months of 2025.
