Nio hits all-time high deliveries in August, as Onvo contributing over half of volume
Nio announced today a new all-time high for vehicle deliveries in August 2025. The company delivered a total of 31,305 vehicles, marking a 55.2% year-over-year increase.
The August figures were bolstered by performances across its multi-brand portfolio:
- The Nio brand delivered 10,525 vehicles.
- The Onvo brand 16,434 units.
- The Firefly brand delivered 4,346 vehicles.
Cumulatively, Nio has delivered 838,036 vehicles to date. This includes 748,448 units from the Nio brand, 75,033 from the Onvo brand, and 14,555 from the Firefly brand.

Onvo L90, which achieved 10,575 deliveries in its debut month, making it the fastest model in Nio’s history to surpass the 10,000-unit delivery mark.

Adding to the momentum, Nio launched the pre-sale of its all-new ES8 on August 21. Positioned as an all-scenario tech flagship SUV, the new ES8 starts at a pre-sale price of 416,800 yuan (58,150 USD) for outright purchase, or 308,800 yuan (43,080 USD) with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. Nio President Qin Lihong revealed that pre-orders for the new ES8, as of August 22, had already surpassed the initial order volume of the Onvo L90, signalling its potential to become another blockbuster model for the company. The official launch of the new Nio ES8 is scheduled for Nio Day 2025 in late September.

Despite the strong sales performance, in an internal address published by 21st Business Herald on August 29, Nio Founder, Chairman, and CEO William Li acknowledged significant challenges, particularly regarding the company’s ambitious goal of achieving profitability in Q4 2025. “For a long time, probably less than 1% of people in the world believed we could be profitable in Q4,” he remarked. To achieve this, Li outlined two key strategies: maximising company-wide efficiency and enhancing business acumen across all departments.

William Li expressed confidence in hitting the Q4 profitability target, citing the high average selling price and favourable gross margins of the Onvo L90 and new ES8.
Prior to this, Nio’s most successful month was December 2024, when it sold a total of 31,138 vehicles. Of these, the Onvo L60 accounted for 10,528 units.
