BYD Yangwang U8L EREV with 1,180 hp, “God’s Eye” A, and 1,160 km range launched at 179,800 USD
On September 12, BYD officially launched its Yangwang U8L full-size executive luxury SUV with a price tag of 1.28 million yuan (179,800 USD). The new car is 5.4 meters long and features BYD’s technologies including the “God’s Eye” A high-end advanced driving assistance solution, e4 technology, and DiSus-P+ intelligent body control system.

The Yangwang U8L has body dimensions of 5400/2049/1921 mm (l/w/h), and a wheelbase of 3250 mm.

Ultilizing BYD’s e4 (Yisifang) platform, the Yangwang U8L can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, has a minimum turning radius of 5.45 m, and supports tire stability control during tire blowout scenarios even at high speeds, tank turn, crab walk, and emergency floatation on water. A total of 13 driving modes are offered, including in snow, sand, and flooding conditions.
The powertrain consists of a 2.0T engine, a 55.53 kWh Blade battery pack, and four electric motors, delivering a combined output of 880 kW (1,180 hp) and 1,520 Nm of torque. The pure electric range is 200 km and the comprehensive range is 1,160 km. The fuel tank capacity is 90 L. It takes 13.5 minutes to recharge the battery from 30% to 80% under fast charging.

The advanced driving assistance solution comes from BYD’s “God’s Eye” A (DiPilot 600) that ultilizes three lidars, five millimeter-wave radars, 14 ultrasonic radars, and 18 cameras to realize high-speed NOA, city NOA, automatic parking assist, and remote parking assist.

At the same time, the infrared vision system can detect dynamic objects at up to 120 m away and has a maximum detection distance of 300 m under dark, fog, rain, and dust conditions.

The interior adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat layout. The entire vehicle has a cabin volume of 5.3 m³, the maximum knee room in the second row can reach 280 mm, and the maximum trunk volume is 1,115 L. Additionally, the intelligent privacy windows can adjust the shade based on the environmental lighting conditions.

The cockpit features BYD’s DiLink 300 system powered by a 3nm cockpit chip. There is an 12.8-inch OLED curved central control screen, a 23.6-inch instrument panel, a co-pilot multimedia screen, and an AR-HUD.

A 21.4-inch ceiling entertainment screen is also available for the rear passengers.


Furthermore, the second-row executive zero-gravity seats are equipped with headrest speaker, 18-point massage function, smart armrest screen, leg rest, small table, and wireless charging.


Other configurations include 32 Dynaudio speakers, an 1.7㎡ panoramic sunroof, a heating and cooling refrigerator, 13 power and USB ports throughout the interior, 14 airbags, and 128-color ambient light. BYD also claimed the cabin’s noise level is no more than 64.6 dB at a vehicle speed of 120 km/h.
