Buick unveiled its new mid-to-large sedan, the Electra L7 EREV. The car, which draws inspiration from the Electra-L concept car, is set to open for pre-sales on September 28.

Built on the Xiaoyao Architecture, the Electra L7’s 1.5T extended-range system delivers a pure electric range of 302 km under CLTC conditions, with a combined range exceeding 1400 km. The powertrain features a SAIC-GM-produced 1.5T engine (model LD3) generating a maximum power of 115 kW and peak torque of 230 Nm, paired with a powerful 252 kW (338 hp) drive motor. This combination enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds, while achieving a comprehensive fuel consumption of 0.5 L/100km. The vehicle is equipped with a 40.2 kWh Ultium battery and a full-stack self-developed extended-range system.

The Electra L7’s exterior design maintains Buick’s family styling, featuring “Starry Sky Wing” headlight clusters and an active grille. The rear is highlighted by a full-width taillight design that integrates “Smart Driving Blue Lights”. Dimensions for the new sedan are 5032 mm in length, 1952 mm in width, and 1500 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3000 mm.

The side.

Inside, the driver interacts with a new-generation Buick D-shaped intelligent control steering wheel, which incorporates a column shifter design and integrates control functions into two intuitive four-way buttons. The interior boasts a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central control screen, and a 50-inch panoramic AR-HUD head-up display system. The central screen supports split-screen displays for environment rendering, map navigation, and media playback, with adjustable proportions, while the AR-HUD integrates over 15 types of driving information with real-world road conditions using data from cameras, LiDAR, and millimetre-wave radar.

The rear.

Smart features include a low-energy Sentry Mode, which utilises high-definition surrounding cameras and high-precision IMU sensors for collaborative perception and a three-level dynamic risk classification. For smartphone integration, the Electra L7 supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei Hicar, and Xiaomi/Oppo/Vivo CarLink.

Underpinning its intelligent capabilities is Qualcomm’s latest SA8775P chip, making its debut in the Electra L7. This chip, featuring an Adreno 663 graphics processing unit, enables diverse display capabilities and high-definition rendering for the vehicle’s control interface and high-precision navigation maps. Its 72 TOPS NPU neural computing power supports various human-vehicle interaction methods, including voice control, fusion touch, and vision-based driver/passenger monitoring. The vehicle is equipped with the class-first dual 120-degree zero-gravity front passenger seat. This seat includes a 103mm 4-way electric leg rest and can be controlled via voice, screen, or physical buttons, allowing for a one-button “lie-flat” mode. All four seats are “full-function suspended layer seats” wrapped in Nappa leather, filled with Surflex material. There is a 610 mm central armrest with an intelligent touch panel.

The LiDAR.

For assisted driving, the Eletra L7 will feature cooperation with local technology companies such as Momenta and will be equipped with LiDAR.
