Leapmotor B05 electric hatchback interior revealed ahead of launch in China
Leapmotor has released official interior images of its upcoming compact electric hatchback, the B05, known in China as the Lafa 5. The new model features a single-tone cabin layout with a panoramic sunroof and a minimalist design.
The front seats can be fully reclined, while the centre console integrates a rectangular infotainment display and a wireless charging pad. The dashboard and door panels use mixed materials, designed for a uniform tone across the cabin. The model will officially debut in China in October and is scheduled to go on sale at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November.
The B05 first appeared at the 2025 Munich Motor Show, where it made its global debut and opened for blind pre-orders. A higher-performance variant, called the B05 Ultra, is expected to begin deliveries in China in the first half of 2026 before expanding to overseas markets.
According to specifications filed with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the B05 measures 4,430 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height, with a 2,735 mm wheelbase. It adopts a closed front grille with an integrated light bar and a large trapezoidal lower air intake. The model is equipped with active grille shutters (AGS), a front splitter, and aerodynamic air curtains.

The car uses a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution and features frameless doors, 19-inch wheels, and a full-width LED taillight design. Six exterior colours will be available, including Electric Yellow, Storm Grey, Starry Blue, Morgan Pink, Galaxy Silver, and Metallic Black.
For performance, the Lafa 5 is powered by a single electric motor (model TZ180XS101) supplied by CRRC Times Electric Drive, producing a rated output of 55 kW and a peak output of 132 kW. Power is drawn from a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack jointly supplied by Jiangsu Zhengli New Energy and Gotion High-Tech, with the pack assembled by Lingxiao Energy Technology.
The vehicle has a top speed of 160 km/h and supports a 5-passenger layout. Standard features include an anti-lock braking system (ABS) from ZF Automotive Systems Shanghai, an event data recorder (EDR), and optional ETC connectivity.
Once launched, the Leapmotor Lafa 5 will enter China’s compact electric hatchback segment, competing with the BYD Dolphin, Geely Geome Xingyuan, and MG4.
