Recently, the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture announced that its Elexio EO SUV will roll off the production line on October 16, with pre-sales opening simultaneously. The Elexio EO is the joint venture’s first pure electric SUV built based on Hyundai’s E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P chip, and boasts a maximum CLTC range of 722 km.

The official claimed Elexio EO’s design draws inspiration from the Morse code “H” which contains four dots, as seemed from the distinct square headlights made up of 152 LED units. Then below is a through-type light strip.

Side view.

From the side, the roofline transitions downward from the B-pillar, complemented by hidden door handles and D-pillar.

Notably, the side trim strip behind the rear window features a contrasting color scheme and connects to the rear roof, creating a wraparound effect. Furthermore, a segmented high-mounted brake light and rearview camera are integrated into the roof.

Dimensionally, the Elexio EO measures 4615/1875/1675 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 2750 mm.

Seven exterior paints will be available: purple, silver, pearl white, blue, matte white, black, and gray.

Consumers will be able to choose from FWD and AWD versions. The FWD has an electric motor that outputs a maximum power of 160 kW (215 hp) while the AWD has an additional rear electric motor that outputs 73 kW (98 hp). Referring to previous Chinese MIIT announcements, the EO is equipped with 64.2 kWh, 64.2 kWh, and 88.1 kWh battery capacities, providing CLTC ranges of 518 km, 540 km, 590 km, 692 km, and 722 km.

Under fast charging, recharging the battery from 30% to 80% takes 27 minutes.

Cockpit.

Inside, the cockpit features a 27-inch integrated display, consisting of a large central control screen and a co-pilot entertainment screen, boasting 4K resolution and 1000 cd/m² of brightness. Traditional physical buttons are eliminated from the center console, and a HUD is standard.

Furthermore, there are 29 storage spaces throughout the interior.

Looking ahead, in accordance with its strategy of “In China, for China, and to the world”, Beijing-Hyundai will launch two to three new energy vehicles every year in the next four years, covering sedans, SUVs, and MPVs in BEV, PHEV, and EREV variants.
