China’s best-selling wholesale passenger vehicle ranking: Tesla Model Y, Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, Geely Geome Xingyuan, September 2025
In September, the Tesla Model Y crowned the wholesale list with 59,907 vehicles sold among passenger vehicles in China, becoming the best-selling model of the month, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Following behind are the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV and Geely Geome Xingyuan, both of which have sales exceeding 50,000 units, ranking second and third, respectively.
For reference, Chinese passenger vehicle wholesale reached 2.803 million units in September, a year-on-year increase of 12.4% and a month-on-month increase of 13%. Specifically, sedan wholesale volume was 1.129 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%. SUV was 1.561 million units, a year-on-year increase of 15.4%. MPV was 112,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 19%.

Among the 25 models on the list that sold more than 20,000 units, 13 were new energy vehicles (NEVs). It is worth pointing out that passenger NEV wholesale reached 1.50 million units in September, a year-on-year increase of 22.4% and a month-on-month increase of 15.9%, bringing the cumulative wholesale volume for the first three quarters to 10.444 million units.
Furthermore, the top three automakers with the most passenger vehicles sold in wholesale last month were BYD, Geely, and Chery: 393,000, 273,000, and 269,000 vehicles, respectively, down 5.9%, 35.2%, and 13.5% year-on-year, and accounting for 14%, 9.7%, and 9.6% of the market share, respectively.
