BYD Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 Five-Seater SUV launches, starting at 53,200 USD
BYD‘s Fang Cheng Bao brand officially launched the five-seater version of its flagship Bao 8 SUV this afternoon. The new model is available in two configurations, with prices ranging from 379,800 yuan (53,200 USD) to 399,800 (56,000 USD). This new variant joins the existing six and seven-seater models, completing the Bao 8’s product matrix and catering to a wider range of customer needs for space and off-road capability.
The Bao 8 five-seater maintains the “Future Starship Aesthetic” design. The Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving version features three LiDAR sensors on the roof. A new “Lake Green” exterior color option has also been introduced.
Inside, the vehicle boasts a sophisticated cabin with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch central control screen, a 12.3-inch passenger display, and a 50-inch AR-HUD, all supporting multi-screen interaction. The interior also offers a new “Snow Hidden Grey” color scheme. The infotainment system runs on DiLink 150, powered by a BYD 9000 chip with integrated AI large models, and supports “Fang Hua” mobile phone interconnection, allowing seamless streaming of Huawei phone applications to the car’s system.

As the flagship product of the Fang Cheng Bao family, the Bao 8 measures 5195mm in length, 1994mm in width, and 1875mm in height (1905mm with roof rack), with a wheelbase of 2920mm. The removal of the third-row seats in the five-seater version expands the available interior space. Rear legroom is increased by 100mm, providing a longitudinal seating space of 970mm. Both the second-row and front passenger seats are equipped with four-way adjustable leg rests and zero-gravity seating for enhanced comfort. A new dual-door high-pressure refrigerator has also been added.

The trunk offers a generous 955L of storage space, which extends to 1897mm in depth when the rear seats are folded flat, effectively transforming into a “double bed room” and expanding the vehicle’s utility.
For driving assistance, all Bao 8 models come equipped with the Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4.0 system, enabling “parking space to parking space” full-scenario navigation assistance. It also includes comprehensive parking functions such as off-car parking, valet parking, and remote vehicle manoeuvring.
Under the hood, the Bao 8 utilises the DMO+ plug-in hybrid platform, featuring a 2.0T engine paired with a 200kW front motor and a 300kW rear motor. This combination delivers a comprehensive output of 550 kW (738 hp) and a system torque of 760N·m, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds.
The platform debuts “full-speed domain road surface perception control technology,” an upgrade that ensures stable and precise wheel grip across various terrains and speeds, including sand, mud, and rocks, by optimising torque output and control regardless of conditions.
The Bao 8 offers a pure electric range of 125km and a combined range of 1200 km. Its NEDC fuel consumption is rated at 8.5L/100km, and it supports a 6kW external power discharge function.
