BYD unveiled the 2026 Qin L DM-i, featuring upgraded interior controls, a smarter infotainment system, and improved fuel efficiency. The plug-in hybrid sedan now offers a pure-electric range of 128 km and NEDC-rated fuel consumption of just 2.79 L/100 km, and a combined driving range of 2,148 km. Two trims are available, with limited-time pricing starting at 92,800 yuan (13,600 USD) and going up to 102,800 yuan (15,100 USD).

The exterior of the 2026 Qin L DM-i continues BYD’s “New National Trend Dragon Face” design language. The front features a refined face with a large lower grille and sleek headlights integrated with upward-pointing “dragon whisker” lighting elements.

Inside, the model replaces the traditional gear lever with a column-mounted design, simplifying the centre console layout. The upgraded DiLink100 infotainment system adds a pet-themed interface and a karaoke feature that does not require a microphone. Navigation can be synced from a mobile device to the vehicle system via a long-press address drag or a shake gesture, while music subscriptions can be shared between the phone and the car system.

Pure-electric range reaches 128 km with fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain.

The powertrain remains unchanged from the previous generation. It combines a 1.5L petrol engine producing 74 kW and 126 N·m of torque with an electric motor available in 120 kW and 160 kW versions. The pure-electric range has increased to 128 km, while NEDC-rated fuel consumption after battery depletion is 2.79 L/100 km. Existing owners can update via OTA to reduce the NEDC post-discharge fuel consumption to 2.6 L/100 km for the 80 km EV version. The model is equipped with BYD’s Tianshen C driver-assistance system.

The Qin L sits above the Qin Plus in BYD’s lineup, offering a longer wheelbase and more interior space, making it suitable for families or passengers. Along with the configuration upgrades, the 2026 model also features revised pricing and sales policies to maintain competitiveness in the mid-size sedan segment.

In the market, the Qin L DM-i faces competition from the Geely Galaxy A7, launched on August 8 at a starting price of 81,800 yuan (12,000 USD). The Galaxy A7 rivals the Qin L in size, range, and pricing, and achieved over 10,000 pre-orders on its first day, indicating strong market recognition.
