The 2026 Song L DM-i retains the large front grille design from the previous generation, now finished with a dot pattern for a more refined appearance. The front bumper features distinctive side styling, while the angular wheel arches contribute to a more dynamic look. The door handles have changed from entirely hidden to semi-hidden, aligning with typical usage and current design trends. Two new body colours, Guanyao Grey and Xinghe Beige, are available for the updated model.

Inside, the SUV adopts BYD’s latest “Dynasty” family design language. The new gear lever is mounted as a column shifter, creating a cleaner dashboard layout while retaining key physical buttons. The infotainment system has been enhanced with features such as KTV without a microphone, a game centre, word puzzle games, screen mirroring, navigation handoff, continuous music playback, large-screen video playback, motion-sickness prevention, animated pets, and 3D dynamic themes.

2026 BYD Song L DM-i achieves a NEDC-rated plug-in hybrid fuel consumption of 3.4 L/100 km.

Additional upgrades include a front centre console cold-and-warm box adjustable from -6°C to 50°C, and front-row seats with massage functionality.

The high-spec Song L DM-i now offers a 200 km pure electric range. The 1.5L engine delivers 74 kW, paired with a 160 kW electric motor. The fifth-generation DM technology further reduces fuel consumption, with an NEDC-rated plug-in hybrid consumption of 3.4 L/100 km. Standard safety features now include the DiSus-C intelligent damping system and TBC high-speed tyre blowout control, alongside BYD’s Tian Shen Eye C driver assistance system.

Following BYD’s success in the compact SUV segment, the Song L DM-i serves as a larger mid-size alternative, offering increased space and enhanced features. Together with the Song Pro DM-i, BYD covers a price segment of 100,000–170,000 yuan (approximately 10,000–17,000 USD) in the plug-in hybrid SUV market. In the first half of 2025, the Song L DM-i sold 70,520 units.
