BYD’s Denza N8L launches: A more affordable Denza N9 starting at 42,000 USD
Denza, the premium new energy vehicle brand of BYD, officially launched its highly anticipated N8L large six-seater SUV tonight.
The Denza N8L enters the market with two versions, priced at 299,800 yuan (42,000 USD) and 329,800 yuan (46,200 USD), respectively.
The Denza N8L’s key features include the e³ platform technology, DiSus-A intelligent air body control system, and high-speed tyre blowout stability control system. Comfort amenities like a ceiling-mounted screen, Devialet audio system, hot and cold storage box, and the “God’s Eye B-Assist Driving Laser Edition” are also included.

Denza’s General Manager Li Hui compared N8L with Denza’s flagship SUV N9. “The Denza N9 is a technology and safety flagship SUV, while the Denza N8L is a family-focused safe luxury SUV,” Li Hui stated. This differentiation is in three key areas:
- Space layout: The Denza N8L exclusively features a “2+2+2” six-seat configuration, prioritising the practicality of the third row with a maximum recline angle of 121°, adjustable seat heating, and a 100 mm fore-aft sliding range, catering perfectly to multi-person family travel. In contrast, the Denza N9 offers both six-seat and four-seat options, with the latter emphasising executive comfort.
- Scenario focus: The N8L targets practical family scenarios, offering features like the “God’s Eye B,” hot and cold storage, and a ceiling-mounted screen. It also introduces a motion sickness prevention system, a crucial feature for family users. The Denza N9, on the other hand, showcases the brand’s technological prowess with more complex intelligent driving hardware.
- Hardcore capabilities: The Denza N8L is equipped with a 46.99 kWh battery, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 230 km, slightly more than the Denza N9’s 46.9 kWh battery and 212 km range. In terms of manoeuvrability, the N8L boasts a maximum rear-wheel steering angle of ±10° and a minimum turning radius of 4.58 m, outperforming the N9’s 4.65 m, making it easier to handle in urban environments and parking situations.

The N8L features a 2.0T + three-motor powertrain, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds.

A core technological advantage is the Denza N8L’s e³ platform technology, enabling features like “compass turn,” “crab walk mode,” and “e³ parking.” It also demonstrates stability, passing high-speed avoidance tests without tail-wagging at 128 km/h (dry) and 120 km/h (wet), and successfully completing the fishhook test at 210 km/h.
