BYD Japan has unveiled its T35 electric truck at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, marking the company’s strategic entry into Japan’s commercial vehicle market. The vehicle, specifically designed for the Japanese market, is scheduled for release in spring 2026 with an estimated price of 8 million yen (52,500 USD).

The T35 is available in both aluminium van and flatbed configurations. It features BYD’s LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) Blade Battery technology and incorporates Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) design, integrating the battery system directly with the vehicle chassis for enhanced stability and safety.

With a WLTC range of 250 kilometres on a single charge, the T35 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 150 kW (201 hp) of maximum power and 340 N · m of peak torque. The vehicle comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

The interior features a 12.8-inch touchscreen display with voice recognition capabilities, as well as a ventilated driver’s seat with heating function and wireless charging. The T35 also supports Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, ensuring continuous system improvements and feature additions.

A standout feature is its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, offering up to 10 kW power output, enabling the truck to serve as a mobile power source. This functionality was dramatically demonstrated at the show with a mobile sauna installation on the flatbed version, showcasing the vehicle’s versatility beyond traditional commercial applications.

“The T35 represents our commitment to the Japanese market with a vehicle that meets both commercial and lifestyle needs,” said Liu Xueliang, President of BYD Japan. “Its combination of practical utility and innovative features sets a new standard in the electric commercial vehicle segment.”

After the sauna, you can also take a cold bath in the tub.

The vehicle is designed to be operated with a standard driver’s license, making it accessible to a broader range of users while maintaining professional-grade capabilities for commercial applications.
