BYD has marked a milestone with its Sealion 06 SUV, achieving 100,000 units produced just 100 days after its market introduction. The model, launched on July 24, 2025, replaces the outgoing Sealion 6 and now holds the record for the fastest BYD model to reach 100,000 units across all segments.
The Sealion 06 is priced from 139,800 yuan to 163,800 yuan (approx. 19,300 to 22,620 USD), depending on configuration. It is offered in both all-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants, sharing the same exterior design across powertrains. The SUV measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a 2,820 mm wheelbase. It adopts BYD’s Ocean series design language, featuring a closed front face, split-level headlamps, a wavy rear light bar, and semi-recessed door handles.
The electric variants are built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture and include 400V and 800V systems. The entry-level EV features a 65.28 kWh battery, producing 170 kW and 330 N·m, which provides a CLTC range of 520 km. Higher-end 800V EVs carry a 78.72 kWh battery, 180 kW motor output, and a 605 km CLTC range. Charging is supported up to 237 kW in 800V models, and the vehicles consume approximately 12.5 kWh per 100 km.
PHEV variants use BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i system, pairing a 1.5-litre engine rated at 74 kW and 126 N·m with a 160 kW electric motor. Battery capacities range from 18.3 kWh to 26.6 kWh, with electric-only CLTC ranges between 121 km and 170 km, and combined ranges up to 1,670 km. The hybrid setup also features the company’s “seven-in-one” power domain control.
The Sealion 06 comes standard with BYD’s God’s Eye intelligent driving system and advanced safety features, including seven airbags and more than 30 safety functions. Inside, the SUV offers a 15.6-inch floating infotainment display, a digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, and a 1.73-square-meter panoramic sunroof. The cargo capacity reaches 1,630 litres with the second-row seats folded.
The Sealion 06’s rapid production milestone underscores BYD’s continued expansion in the mid-size SUV segment and its strategy of offering both EV and PHEV options in a unified design package.
