GAC Aion’s first EREV, i60, will start pre-sale on November 3rd in China

GAC Aion i60 will be offered in EREV and EV variants, also the brand's first EREV model.

GAC Aion’s i60 will begin pre-sales on November 3rd in China, available in EREV and EV variants. The new car will be GAC Aion’s first EREV model, featuring the automaker’s Xingyuan range-extender system, and is expected to cost around 140,000 yuan (19,700 USD), according to Chinese news outlet Yiche.

Once launched, the GAC Aion i60’s competitors will include the Geely Galaxy L7 PHEV priced between 115,800 and 169,700 yuan (16,000 to 23,900 USD USD), as well as the BYD Song Plus PHEV priced between 135,800 and 175,800 yuan (19,100 to 24,700 USD).

In terms of appearance, both the EV and EREV variants are almost identical in design, featuring a closed front fascia and headlights connected by a LED light strip. The sides are fitted with semi-hidden and hidden door handle options. Some trims will also come with a roof lidar for advanced driving assistance capabilities.

The rear adopts a through-type continuous taillight group embedded with the GAC brand logo that can light up, while the EREV variant uses a hidden exhaust system.

Side with hidden door handles and multi-spoke rims.

Positioned as a compact SUV, the GAC Aion i60 measures 4685/1854 (1876)/1660 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 2775 mm, and a standard five-seat layout.

The EV variant will be powered by two electric motor options, 150 kW (model TZ180XTD3A01) and 165 kW (model TZ180XYXOF51), depending on the configuration. Three battery capacity options will be available: 47.829 kWh, 62.268 kWh, and 75.26 kWh, with corresponding cruising ranges of 400 km, 530 km, and 650 km.

The EREV variant will be equipped with GAC’s self-developed Xingyuan range-extender system consisting of a 1.5L engine with a maximum power of 74 kW (99 hp), and the electric motor also offers 150 kW (201 hp) and 165 kW (221 hp) options. The onboard lithium iron phosphate battery will have a capacity of 29.165 kWh, providing a pure electric range of 160 km.

The comprehensive range has not been revealed at this time. For reference, the Xingyuan range-extender system is also onboard GAC’s Hyptec HL EREV SUV, offering a CLTC comprehensive range of 1,369 km.
