Chery Automobile’s latest model under its new box-style SUV sub-brand, the iCaur V27, will make its China debut on November 21 at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Known domestically as the iCar V27, the model adopts the “iCaur” name for international markets due to trademark considerations. Positioned above the smaller V23, it becomes the largest and most advanced product in the lineup, featuring a range-extender electric powertrain instead of a pure-electric setup.

The iCaur V27 combines a retro-inspired square body with modern design elements. Its upright stance, large bumpers, pronounced wheel arches, and rear-mounted spare tyre emphasise a rugged, off-road style. Measuring 4,909 mm in length, 1,976 mm in width, and 1,894 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,910 mm, it sits in the mid-to-large SUV category. The model’s interior has yet to be revealed, but high-spec trims are expected to include lidar-based driver-assistance technology powered by Horizon Robotics chips.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that serves purely as a generator within the range-extender system, driving the wheels exclusively via electric motors. Rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations will be available, with the latter delivering up to 335 kW of combined output. The model’s pure-electric range is around 200 km on the CLTC cycle, while the total combined range exceeds 1,000 km.

Two rear-end designs have been disclosed, one with a traditional spare-tire mount and another with a box-style rear container, alongside several customisation options, including a segmented roof, roof racks, privacy glass, and up to 21-inch wheels.

The iCaur V27 is defined by Chery as a mid-large all-terrain SUV built on a unibody platform. While detailed off-road specifications have not been released, its proportions and geometry suggest moderate off-road capability. With an estimated domestic price range between 200,000 and 250,000 yuan (approximately 27,800 to 34,700 USD), the V27 enters China’s expanding electrified off-road segment, competing with models such as the BYD Fangchengbao 5 and Great Wall Tank 700 Hi4-T.

Production is expected to begin shortly after its debut in Guangzhou, marking the start of iCaur’s push into larger, range-extending SUVs that aim to balance electric performance with long-distance practicality.
