Stelato, the premium automotive brand by Huawei and BAIC, officially announced today the commencement of pre-orders for its updated mid-to-large sedan, the Stelato S9. The refreshed model is available starting from an estimated price of 318,000 yuan (44,500 USD). This facelift introduces enhancements in both design and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

The new Stelato S9 will feature an impressive array of 36 high-precision sensors, including a standard four-lidar setup. The forward-facing radar system has been upgraded to a three-distributed millimetre-wave radar matrix, and external microphones have been added.

The design draws inspiration from the cosmos, featuring C-shaped headlights in a triple cluster and a star-rin glight strip. For this update, the S9 has been adorned with a new “Universe Star” emblem, “Brilliant Star River” headlights, updated wheel designs, intelligent electronic exterior rearview mirrors, and a new “Universe” body colour. The rear of the vehicle showcases a fresh “Nebula”-style taillight design.

In terms of dimensions, the Stelato S9 measures 5160mm in length, 2005mm in width, and 1492mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3050mm. The new S9 will be equipped with four lidar units (one 192-line lidar and three high-precision solid-state lidars) and is expected to incorporate a three-distributed 4D millimetre-wave radar matrix. With 36 high-precision sensors, it will run on Huawei’s Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4.

Under the hood, the Stelato S9 offers both pure electric (EV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain options. The EV variant has already completed its Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) declaration. Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, it is powered by a drive motor (model TZ210XYA03) manufactured by Huawei Digital Energy Technology Co., Ltd., delivering a maximum power output of 227 kW (304 hp). This version is projected to offer a range exceeding 800 kilometres. The EREV model will feature Huawei’s “Snow Owl” intelligent extended-range system, boasting a combined CLTC range of over 1300 kilometres.
