A filing by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has revealed key specifications for Xpeng’s upcoming extended-range version of its G6 SUV, known as the G6 EREV. According to the filing, the model will be equipped with a 55.8 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 325 km, according to WTLC. The filing also confirms the inclusion of a 1.5-litre turbocharged internal-combustion range-extender engine producing 110 kW, manufactured by Dong’an Powertrain, alongside a rear-axle 218 kW electric motor.

In terms of dimensions, the G6 EREV aligns with the BEV version, measuring 4,771 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. The top speed is recorded at 202 km/h. Externally, the vehicle largely follows the design of the standard G6 fastback SUV, featuring a sloped front end, integrated headlights, a continuous LED daytime running light strip, retractable door handles, and a sleek roofline. Wheel options include R18 and R20 sizes.

The filing positions the G6 EREV within Xpeng’s broader strategy for extended-range electric vehicles under the Kunpeng Super Electric System. The 325 km electric-only figure suggests a practical range for daily EV usage before the range-extender engine is engaged. While the filing does not specify the total combined range of electric and engine power, earlier reports have indicated that some EREV variants could achieve a total range of up to 1,400 km. Xpeng’s use of a 55.8 kWh battery, smaller than the BEV variant, may help reduce cost, weight, or improve packaging to accommodate the range-extender powertrain.

The MIIT application confirms that the G6 EREV is progressing through the regulatory approval process, but an official launch date has not yet been disclosed. The model is expected to be introduced before the end of the year. Pricing details are also absent, though the standard BEV G6 is priced from 176,800 yuan (approximately 24,830 USD) for the entry variant. Real-world performance, including charging times, range under typical conditions, and the efficiency of the range-extender engine, remains to be tested.
