2026 Chery Tiggo 8 launches with 210 kW engine and twin front styles from 12,300 USD
Chery has officially launched the all-new 2026 Tiggo 8, also referred to as the fifth-generation model, in China. The new SUV is offered in four trims, with official prices ranging from 99,900 to 129,900 yuan (approximately 13,200–17,200 USD) and a limited-time early-bird price of 92,900–122,900 yuan (around 12,300–16,300 USD). Positioned as a family-oriented five-seat SUV, the Tiggo 8 now features two exterior designs, two interior layouts, and two powertrain options.
Exterior Design
The Tiggo 8 continues Chery’s large-family front fascia style and incorporates biomimetic natural-force aesthetics. Buyers can choose between the “Tiger” and “Leopard” front-end designs. Both feature deep-set blacked-out headlights with split-type matrix LED units and patterned grille designs; the Tiger uses a tooth-edge pattern, while the Leopard adopts a blade-edge pattern. Metal chrome accents on the front fascia enhance visual quality.
The side profile, officially named the “Hunting Shadow” body, presents flowing lines with blacked-out wheel arches and pillars, while chrome trim around the windows adds a sporty, refined touch. At the rear, a full-width tail light strip is complemented by a “CHERY” badge above it. The Tiger version measures 4,749/1,880/1,710 mm (L/W/H) and the Leopard 4,725/1,880/1,705 mm, both with a 2,825 mm wheelbase.
Interior Features
Inside, the Tiger variant features a “Dawn Forest Wrap” cockpit, while the Leopard adopts a “Galaxy Jungle Dynamic” layout. Central displays include a 15.6-inch and a 13.2-inch touchscreen, paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. The HMI5.0 interface, paired with an 8155 chip, supports smartphone integration via HiCar, CarPlay, and CarLink. The SUV also offers an AI voice assistant capable of dialect recognition, four-zone voice interaction, and the new Gaode navigation system.
Additional interior features include an eight-speaker audio system, 256-colour ambient lighting, 50W wireless phone charging, 10-layer cloud SPA seats with massage, ventilation, and heating functions, and configurable rear-seat tables. The vehicle supports a dual-bed mode and ENC active noise cancellation.
Safety and Driver Assistance
The Tiggo 8 comes equipped with Chery’s Falcon 500 driver-assistance system, offering Level 2 support with features such as highway pilot, memory parking, and remote parking across 16 functions. A future Falcon 700 system is planned to add city navigation, valet parking, and intelligent summon capabilities. The SUV features eight airbags and a reinforced body structure composed of 80% high-strength steel, utilising a shotgun architecture with multiple front and side energy absorption pathways.
Powertrain and Suspension
The vehicle offers two powertrains: a Kunpeng 1.6TGDI engine paired with a Magna 7DCT gearbox producing 160 kW and 320 N·m, and a Kunpeng 2.0TGDI engine with an 8AT transmission generating 210 kW and 430 N·m. The AWD Snow Leopard features all-wheel drive and is available with seven selectable modes. Suspension upgrades include CDC magnetic suspension with AI road-preview adjustments, providing real-time damping optimisation, and an AI intelligent four-wheel-drive system for torque distribution and coordinated body control.
Market Positioning
Within the mid-size gasoline SUV segment, the Tiggo 8 has maintained strong sales, competing with models such as the Jetour X70 and NEVs like the Leapmotor C10.
