GWM 2026 Cannon pickup debuts at Guangzhou Auto Show with upgraded tech amid rising international sales
GWM is preparing to unveil the 2026 Cannon pickup truck lineup at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 21, 2025. The new range includes the passenger-oriented Cannon, the off-road Cannon, and the commercial Cannon, each receiving targeted updates to their exterior, interior, and powertrain systems, according to D-Auto.
The 2026 passenger Cannon will feature an upgraded Coffee OS 3 infotainment system, suggesting enhancements in its in-cabin technology and connectivity. The off-road Cannon will adopt the BorgWarner 4A+ MLock intelligent four-wheel-drive system, equipped with three differential locks to improve off-road capability.
The commercial Cannon receives changes to its front fascia, including dual-lens LED headlights and additional fog lamps. The side profile will offer 18-inch wheels. Powertrain options remain a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 135 kW and 480 N·m of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle also features a new generation of stability systems, combining anti-roll and hill descent control functions.
Based on the current 2024 Cannon models, the off-road version retains a hexagonal front grille with wide horizontal slats and a textured “scale” style mesh. Equipment such as T-Max front winches, snorkels, 18-inch all-terrain tyres, K-Man nitrogen shock absorbers, 3 mm chassis armour, off-road side steps, and iron bumpers remains part of the package. The off-road Cannon is classified as a mid-size pickup, with dimensions of 5,444 mm in length, 1,958 mm in width, 1,893 mm in height, and a 3,230 mm wheelbase. The mountain edition features a ground clearance of 228 mm, along with approach and departure angles of 30 ° and 26°, respectively. Steel leaf or five-link suspension options are available.
Interior features, referencing the 2024 off-road model, include a 7-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, physical buttons on the centre console, and wireless charging. Additional features include USB and 12V outlets, Level 2 driver assistance, driving mode selection, front and rear differential locks, tank turn functionality, and crawl mode.

The 2.0-litre gasoline engine produces 140 kW and 360 N·m of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the 2.4-litre diesel engine delivers 137 kW and 480 N·m, matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2026 Cannon will compete with mid-size pickup rivals such as the Nissan Frontier Pro.
In 2025, GWM’s pickup trucks have seen significant growth in international markets. During the first half of the year, the company exported approximately 158,000 pickup units, representing a 30.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Overseas sales accounted for nearly 35% of total vehicle sales. Global sales of GWM pickups, including the Cannon, reached over 96,000 units by mid‑2025, with more than 30,000 units exported, reflecting rising overseas demand. The company operates over 1,400 distribution channels across more than 170 countries and regions, positioning the 2026 Cannon and other pickup models for further international expansion.
GWM has not released official pricing for the 2026 models, but current off-road Cannon prices range from 178,800 to 197,800 yuan (25,800–28,600 USD). More details will be revealed during the Guangzhou Auto Show.
