Editor’s comment
Ford is facing declining sales in China for the fourth year in a row. In 2025 so far (January – October), the company sold only 104,811 cars, down 14.4% from the same period last year and far from the record-breaking 2014, when they sold 1,260,069 cars in the Middle Kingdom. Its lineup consists mainly of ICE vehicles, dominated by the Ford Mondeo, which is losing popularity among domestic consumers. Bronco EV is China’s attempt to at least qualify for China’s EV race and stay relevant.
With pricing that’s just about acceptable amid China’s price war, a modest level of localisation, and the limited but still present brand power Ford retains in China, this attempt is worth keeping an eye on.
