Haval, a brand under Great Wall Motor, officially announced the launch of its all-new gasoline-powered mid-size SUV, the Haval H6L. The new vehicle is available in four models, with official guide prices ranging from 117,900 to 141,900 yuan (16,500 to 19,900 USD). As a gasoline-powered model, the Haval H6L is equipped with Great Wall Motor’s latest 2.0T engine and a 9DCT transmission. Its body dimensions have also been increased compared to the current Haval H6.

The Haval H6L adopts Haval’s latest design language, featuring a full-width-style headlight cluster. The front fascia incorporates an opening design that resembles a smiling mouth. The rear of the vehicle boasts a well-layered design with split taillights and refined internal structures.

In terms of dimensions, the new vehicle measures 4800mm in length, 1895mm in width, and 1730mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2810mm. This makes it the largest model in the Haval H6 series to date. Compared to the latest generation Haval H6, its length has increased by 97mm and its wheelbase by 72mm (the current model measures 4703mm in length, 1886mm in width, 1730mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2738mm).

The Haval H6L is also equipped with features such as heating, ventilation, and massage functions for the front seats. The rear seats offer two recline angles, 27 and 32 degrees.

Under the hood, the Haval H6L is powered by Great Wall’s sixth-generation engine technology. The 2.0T engine delivers a maximum power of 175 kW (235 hp) and a peak torque of 385 N·m, paired with a 9DCT transmission. It is reported to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.2 seconds and has a fuel consumption of 7.4L/100km. Additionally, a 1.5T engine option is still available. The new vehicle also features L2-level assisted driving and intelligent parking that supports over 200 different parking scenarios.

Editor’s comment

The Haval H6 has historically been a sales phenomenon for the brand. The 2.0T + 9DCT powertrain of the H6L addresses the power shortcomings of the older 1.5T models, catering to consumers who seek a better driving experience. However, with the golden age of traditional gasoline vehicles now past, it remains to be seen if the “legendary car” can reclaim its former glory.
