Audi A5L Qiankun Edition launched as world’s first gasoline car with Huawei intelligent driving system
At the opening of the 2025 Auto Guangzhou today, FAW–Audi and Huawei jointly announced the official launch of the FAW-Audi A5L Qiankun Intelligent Driving Edition, priced at 286,800 yuan (40,200 USD). This new model marks a global first, integrating Huawei’s advanced Qiankun intelligent driving system into a gasoline-powered vehicle.
Developed through a collaboration between FAW-Audi and Huawei, the A5L Qiankun Smart Driving Edition is equipped with a suite of 33 high-performance sensing hardware. This includes two “digital eagle eye” dual-laser lidars symmetrically positioned at the front, six millimetre-wave radars, thirteen cameras, and twelve ultrasonic radars. This sensor array enables advanced driver-assistance features such as urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot), highway NOA, and advanced parking.
An innovation is the embedded design of the LiDARs, which not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also integrates a constant-temperature self-cleaning system. This ensures the sensors remain clear and functional even in challenging weather conditions like rain, snow, or mud.

The FAW-Audi A5L boasts an extended wheelbase of 2969mm, an increase of 77mm compared to the overseas A5 Limousine, and an overall length of 4908mm, approaching the dimensions of a European standard wheelbase C-segment car.

In terms of design, the new A5L adopts Audi’s latest family design language, featuring a large, blackened grille and a low-slung front end. The side profile maintains the classic Audi A5 fastback silhouette, while the rear is distinguished by a through-type taillight cluster. The “Star Matrix” front headlights offer eight light signatures, complemented by an illuminated Audi logo. The vehicle also features Audi’s first second-generation OLED through-type taillights on a gasoline car, also offering eight personalised signatures.

The interior of the A5L Qiankun Smart Driving Edition features a driver-centric, wraparound cockpit design with smart functional zones. The “Cloud-Sense Seats” and a 9-zone intelligent panoramic sunroof are standard across all trims. The digital cockpit is a “Flowing Shadow Digital Stage,” comprising an 11.9-inch LCD instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch central control screen, and a 10.9-inch passenger display. A 13.1-inch floating W-HUD (Head-Up Display) is also available. For the audio experience, the car is equipped with a 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Under the hood, the A5L Qiankun Smart Driving Edition is powered by a fifth-generation EA888 2.0T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power output of 150 kW (201 hp) and a peak torque of 340N·m. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.
