BYD‘s Denza has officially delivered its 300,000th D9, marking a milestone event at the recent “Denza Night” gathering in Beijing. During Denza Night, the company announced that the D9 will soon enter the European market, while the upcoming Denza Z sports car is set to compete on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The milestone delivery underscores D9’s rapid adoption in China and positions it for an expanded international presence.

Launched to the public in August 2022, the D9 is offered in both plug‑in hybrid (DM‑i) and battery‑electric variants. The pricing range in China spans from 309,800 yuan to 526,600 yuan. Based on current exchange rates, this corresponds roughly to USD 42,500–72,300. Many of the high‑end orders, representing 41 per cent of total sales, are in the top end of the range; more than half of buyers choose configurations above 400,000 yuan. According to the manufacturer, orders for top‑spec trims exceed typical industry averages by a substantial margin.

Analysts who track vehicle‑by‑vehicle adoption note that D9 has outpaced comparable MPVs in terms of delivery velocity: it reached 300,000 units sold in under three years, nearly 50 per cent faster than peer models in the segment. That acceleration occurred even as the broader MPV segment in China reportedly slipped. The D9 has retained its position as the best‑selling MPV in the entire market for two consecutive years. According to Denza, the D9 now accounts for nearly 60 per cent of the high‑end new energy MPV market in China.

The D9’s success is supported by its blend of space, comfort, and luxury features. The cabin offers a flexible seven‑seat layout suited for both executive transport and large families. Interior highlights include a premium sound system, multi‑mode seat massage, and an advanced, ingenious cockpit with multiple screens and modern connectivity. Depending on the version, the vehicle offers a hybrid powertrain for long‑distance driving and an all‑electric version for zero‑emissions driving.

The maker’s plan now places the D9 at the core of a broader international push. The vehicle is slated to be introduced in Europe under the premium Denza marque, as part of a strategy to bring China’s new energy luxury MPVs to overseas markets.

Given its pace of adoption in China, D9’s milestone reflects not only strong domestic demand for high‑end new energy MPVs, but also a demonstrable capability for Denza-built models to scale rapidly, signalling that the segment may no longer be the near‑exclusive domain of long‑established joint‑venture brands.
