China-made new Ford Mondeo launching December 4 with 27-inch 4K screen
Ford’s long-running Mondeo continues to be produced exclusively in China following the end of production in Europe and North America. Changan Ford confirmed that the updated model will launch on December 4, following its first public reveal at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show, according to Auto-home. The new model introduces significant design, interior, and technology upgrades aimed at the Chinese market.
The exterior adopts a lower, wider stance with a redesigned front grille that preserves key elements of Ford’s design language. The roofline transitions into a fastback profile, while black finishes on the roof, window frames, and side mirrors emphasise a modern aesthetic. Hidden door handles replace conventional handles across all trims. At the rear, the taillights incorporate Ford’s signature three-bar graphic.
The interior features a wraparound layout centred on a 1.1-meter-wide 27-inch 4K display, running across the dashboard. All trims are equipped with Qualcomm’s 8155 chip and debut the latest SYNC+ intelligent system, which integrates Gaode (Amap) navigation and supports wireless Apple CarPlay. The cabin also introduces a yacht-style floating centre console and an upgraded 540-degree panoramic imaging system. STR quick-start technology is implemented to reduce system wake-up time and improve responsiveness.
Changan Ford maintains the five-seat layout, highlighting rear legroom suitable for passengers approaching one meter in height. The panoramic sunroof measures nearly one square meter, while cabin storage capacity has increased to 47.5 litres. These changes represent a notable upgrade in interior space compared with the 2025 Mondeo, which offered standard seating and smaller infotainment options.
The model uses a 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Output is now 261 horsepower with 408 Nm of peak torque, representing an increase over previous China-market variants. Some earlier 2025 Mondeo variants included a 1.5T hybrid option. Still, the newly revealed December 4 model focuses on the upgraded 2.0T powertrain, aligning with Changan Ford’s positioning in the midsize combustion-sedan segment.
The China-built Mondeo is sold in some international markets, including the Middle East, where it is sold as the Taurus.
