BYD Dolphin electric hatchback reached 1 million sales milestone
The BYD Dolphin all-electric hatchback’s cumulative sales has exceeded one million units, making it the fastest vehicle of its type in China to reach this milestone, according to Zhang Zhuo, General Manager of BYD’s Ocean Series Sales Division.
The BYD Dolphin was first launched in August 2021 in China as the first model in the Ocean series.

Currently, the 2025 BYD Dolphin model on the Chinese market is available in four trims with a price range of 99,800 to 129,800 yuan (14,100 to 18,400 USD) and CLTC cruising ranges of 420 km and 520 km.

The body in white uses 78.2% high-strength steel.

Built based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the vehicle has body dimensions of 4125/1770/1570 mm, and a wheelbase of 2700 mm.
Two powertrain configurations are offered:
- 70 kW (94 hp) and 180 Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor, 44.928 kWh Blade (LFP) battery, 420 km range, 0 to 50 km/h acceleration time is 3.9 seconds
- 150 kW (201 hp) and 310 Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor, 60.48 kWh Blade battery, 520 km range, 0 to 50 km/h acceleration time is 3.5 seconds
Under fast charging, it takes 30 minutes to recharge the battery from 30% to 80%.


Inside, the vehicle features a 5-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch or 12.8-inch central control screen, depending on the trims. The vehicle operating system comes from BYD’s DiLink.

The top-of-the-line trims also offers 50W wireless fast charging for mobile phones.
Additionally, the 2025 BYD Dolphin is equipped with seven advanced driving assistance functions provided by the automaker’s DiPilot system, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure assist, just to name a few.

Furthermore, it is worth pointing out that in November, BYD sold 480,186 vehicles, bringing its 2025 cumulative sales to 4,182,038 vehicles. Specifically, breaking it down by brands:
- Dynasty and Ocean series: 423,558 vehicles
- Fang Cheng Bao: 37,405 vehicles
- Denza: 13,255 vehicles
- Yangwang: 703 vehicles
