The Chinese automaker BYD has submitted registration documents for a revised version of its electric sedan, the BYD Seal 06 EV, to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. The filing details a model that has not yet been announced or released.

The updated Seal 06 EV measures 4,870 millimetres in length, 1,890 millimetres in width, and 1,495 millimetres in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 millimetres. The rear features a full-width taillight layout and a simplified trunk design, while the front fascia minimises a traditional grille in favour of side airflow slots. The headlamps are larger than on the prior model.

The revised EV is equipped with a single-motor electric setup offering two power levels. The entry-level motor produces 120 kilowatts, and the high-output variant delivers 240 kilowatts. Reported top speeds are 170 kilometres per hour for the lower-output motor and 190 kilometres per hour for the higher-output variant. Lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery chemistry is retained.

About the current Seal 06 EV

The current Seal 06 EV stands on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo platform. It is sold in China and has motor outputs ranging from 110 to 160 kilowatts, with top speeds of 160–180 kilometres per hour. It is built on BYD’s e‑Platform 3.0 Evo and offers a CLTC driving range of 470–545 kilometres, depending on motor and battery configuration. It measures 4720/1880/1495 mm and has a wheelbase of 2820 mm.

What’s new in the updated Seal 06 EV

Compared with the existing Seal 06 EV, the updated version is 150 mm longer and 10 mm wider while keeping the same 2,820 mm wheelbase. Exterior changes include larger headlamps, a minimised front grille with side airflow channels, and a full-width rear taillight with a cleaner trunk design.

The high-power motor increases from 160 kW to 240 kW, raising the top speed from 180 km/h to 190 km/h. The lower-output variant now produces 120 kW. Lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery chemistry remains unchanged. The filing does not confirm whether the interior layout, battery capacity, or range have been modified.
