New BYD Seal 06 EV exposed with 80 kW stronger motor and larger body than current generation
The Chinese automaker BYD has filed registration documents for a revised version of its electric sedan, the BYD Seal 06 EV, with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. According to the filing, the updated Seal 06 EV measures 4,870/1,890/1,495 millimetres, with a wheelbase of 2,820 millimetres. These dimensions represent an increase over the previous version, which measured 4,720/1,880/1,495 millimetres.
The rear of the vehicle features a full-width taillight layout and a simplified trunk design. The front fascia minimises a traditional grille and instead uses side airflow slots, while the headlamps are larger than on the prior model.
The revised Seal 06 EV is configured with a single-motor electric setup offering two power levels. The entry-level motor produces 120 kilowatts, while the higher-output variant delivers 240 kilowatts. The filing lists a top speed of 170 kilometres per hour for the lower-output motor and 190 kilometres per hour for the higher-output variant. The vehicle continues to use lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery chemistry. By comparison, the current Seal 06 EV in China has motor outputs ranging from 110 to 160 kilowatts, with top speeds of 160–180 kilometres per hour. The previously available model is built on BYD’s e‑Platform 3.0 Evo and offers a CLTC driving range of 470-545 kilometres, depending on the motor and battery configuration.
Compared with the existing Seal 06 EV, the updated filing shows several confirmed changes. The vehicle is 150 mm longer and 10 mm wider while retaining the same 2,820 mm wheelbase. Exterior updates include larger headlamps, a minimised front grille with side airflow channels, and a full-width rear taillight with a cleaner trunk design.
The high-power motor output increases from 160 kW to 240 kW, raising the top speed from 180 km/h to 190 km/h, while the lower-output variant rises to 120 kW. Lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery chemistry remains unchanged, and the filing does not confirm changes to interior layout, battery capacity, or range.
