The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, China’s best-selling micro electric vehicle, is preparing for a design update, according to a recent filing in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) vehicle catalogue. The updated model has been registered under six variants, standardizing the exterior design across both two-door and four-door configurations. The announcement underscores Wuling’s continued focus on the micro EV segment, which has dominated domestic sales for several consecutive years.

Images and specifications from the MIIT filing show that the most visible change in the new Mini EV is the adoption of circular headlights, paired with a black floating roof. The rear also features round taillights, creating a consistent visual theme distinct from the current model. The revised styling applies uniformly to both body types, suggesting Wuling is unifying the design language across the MINI EV lineup.

The four-door variant of the updated Mini EV measures 3268 millimetres in length, 1520 millimetres in width, and 1575 millimetres in height. This represents a slight increase in length and width compared with the current model, which measures 3256 x 1510 x 1578 millimetres. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2190 millimetres. The two-door variant measures 3043 millimetres long, 1520 millimetres wide, and 1590 millimetres high, compared with 3064 x 1493 x 1614 millimetres for the current two-door model. Its wheelbase is 1965 millimetres, down from 2010 millimetres previously.

Powertrain specifications remain consistent with the existing four-door model. The updated Mini EV is equipped with a 30 kW electric motor from Liuzhou Saike, maintaining the same output and performance as the outgoing model. No official updates regarding battery capacity or driving range were provided in the MIIT filing.

The updated Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is competing against models such as the Chery QQ Ice Cream, Baojun E200, and ORA Black Cat.
