Best-selling sedan, hatchback, SUV, MPV in China: Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, Tesla Model Y, Wey Gaoshan, November 2025

In November, China’s passenger vehicle market saw retail sales of 2.225 million units, a decrease of 1.1% month-on-month and 8.1% year-on-year, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV once again crowned the best-selling passenger vehicle last month with 56,800 units sold, bringing its cumulative 2025 sales to 406,200 units. Then, followed by the Tesla Model 3 and Geely Geome Xingyuan.

Further breaking down the sales by vehicle types, sedan and hatchback sales reached 1.007 million units, a decrease of 1.5% month-on-month and 10.0% year-on-year. MPV sales reached 86,000 units, an increase of 1.0% month-on-month but a decrease of 16.8% year-on-year. SUV sales reached 1.132 million units, a decrease of 0.9% month-on-month and 5.6% year-on-year.

Although the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV was the overall best-selling model of last month, its month-to-month sale decreased by 7.7%. Similarly for the Geely Geome Xingyuan, its sales were down 5% from last month and its cumulative sales from January to November were 429,600 vehicles, slightly higher than that of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV.

At the same time, it is worth pointing out that four of the top 10 best-selling sedan/hatchback were gasoline-powered vehicles, namely, the Nissan Sylphy, Volkswagen Sagitar, Volkswagen Passat, and Volkswagen Lavida.

The Tesla Model Y experienced a 141.9% month-on-month increase with 47,100 units sold and a cumulative sales volume of 359,500 units so far this year.

Xiaomi YU7’s monthly sales increases slightly from last month, up 0.2%, with 33,700 units sold and a cumulative sales volume of 114,600 units from January to November.

The ranking of the top five best-selling MPVs in November broke years of market trends. The Wey Gaoshan achieved three consecutive months of top sales from September to November with 10,400 units sold, becoming the first MPV model this year to exceed 10,000 units in monthly sales, overtaking the Toyota Sienna and Denza D9.

Wuling Starlight 730.

Additionally, the Wuling Xingguang 730 PHEV and EV variants, which was launched on November 12th, achieved sales of 5,090 units in just over half a month, securing fifth place.
