On December 15th, BYD teased its two uocoming high-end flagship models: the Seal 08 sedan and Sealion 08 SUV, under its Ocean series. Both models are scheduled to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2026 with the latest BYD technologies. In the future, there will also be Seal 09 and Sealion 09 models, creating a “5678” series of these two lineups.

Both models are built based on the Ocean S concept car that debuted earlier at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show in April, featuring a new generation of Ocean Aesthetic 2.0 design language.

It is worth pointing out that BYD already applied for the sale license for its Seal 08 electric sedan in China earlier in February, with body dimensions of 4720/1880/1495 mm (l/w/h), and a wheelbase of 2820 mm.
The entry-level trim has an electric motor (model TZ180XSR) developed by BYD with a maximum power output of 110 kW (148 hp), paired with a 46.1 kWh Blade battery (LFP) pack, providing a CLTC range of 470 km. The more powerful trim has an electric motor (model TZ200XSBE) that outputs 160 kW (215 hp), combined with a 56.6 kWh Blade battery pack, providing a CLTC range of 545 km.

As for the Sealion 08, industry insiders shared that it will have a length of 5040 mm and a wheelbase of approximately 2950 mm, adopting a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout, according to Chinese news outlet 163.

Since its establishment in November 2021, BYD’s Ocean series has accumulated sales exceeding 6 million vehicles. The Song Plus, Seagull, Dolphin, and Seal models have each sold over one million units in sales.
