Hongqi HS6 PHEV SUV with combined range of 1,650 km launches, starting at 25,000 USD
FAW‘s Hongqi officially launched its new HS6 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid mid-to-large SUV. The new model is available in three variants with a price range of 178,800 to 228,800 Yuan (25,000 to 32,000 USD). It features a 1.5T plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering an impressive pure electric range of up to 248 km and a combined range of 1650 km.

The Hongqi HS6 PHEV’s exterior showcases Hongqi’s “High Mountain Waterfall” grille, a design language established during the brand’s internal combustion engine era and inherited from the 1958 Hongqi CA72. The blackened headlights are complemented by family-style chrome trim and the prominent Hongqi logo on the hood. The vehicle is available in four body colours: Star River Black, Snow White, Moon Silver, and Cangye Mountain Sea.
From the side, the HS6 PHEV offers two styles of 20-inch wheels and frameless rearview mirrors. In terms of size, the new SUV measures 4925mm in length, 1970mm in width, and 1740mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2925mm. The rear design features taillights that subtly resemble the Hongqi logo.
Inside, the HS6 PHEV’s cabin features an embedded, small-sized rectangular full LCD instrument cluster and a two-tone, three-spoke multi-function steering wheel. The central console is dominated by a dual-screen setup, including a multimedia display and a passenger screen, both measuring 15.6 inches with 2.5K resolution and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip.
The second row is equipped with a large-capacity refrigerator and electric seat adjustment, with high-end variants offering ventilation and heating functions for the rear seats. Audiophiles will appreciate the Dynaudio sound system, available with either 12 or 16 speakers.
Under the hood, the Hongqi HS6 PHEV is powered by a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system. The engine delivers a maximum power output of 110 kW. The electric motor configurations include a 168 kW (225 hp) front motor for two-wheel-drive models, or a combination of a 168 kW (225 hp) front motor and a 201 kW (270 hp) rear motor for all-wheel-drive variants.
The vehicle offers two battery specifications: 23 kWh and 40 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs. The CLTC pure electric range varies by configuration:
- 148 km for the 23 kWh two-wheel-drive model.
- 248 km for the 40 kWh two-wheel-drive model.
- 225 km for the 40 kWh all-wheel-drive model.
The combined range figures:
- 1580 km for the 23 kWh two-wheel-drive model.
- 1650 km for the 40 kWh two-wheel-drive model.
- 1460 km for the 40 kWh all-wheel-drive model.
The HS6 PHEV is equipped with Hongqi’s Sinan intelligent driving system, a vision-based advanced driver-assistance system. Its functionalities include highway navigation assist, active passage through ETC gates, lever-actuated lane changes, memory driving, and remote and memory parking capabilities.
