Great Wall Motor teases new retro-inspired model, hints at new sixth brand
Great Wall Motor’s (GWM) Chief Engineer of drive-by-wire chassis, Li Fei, shared on Chinese social media Weibo, hinting at the automaker’s new brand: “GWM’s sixth brand is coming?”. Attached to the post are teaser images of the new model, which resembles a retro vintage design.

Li’s post further hints at the positioning of the new model that it is “clearly not a simple addition to the product line, but rather a ‘new product’ in a completely new product series.”
“From its exterior design, it stands in stark contrast to GWM’s existing five brands. It’s neither following Haval’s mainstream SUV route, nor Tank’s rugged off-road style. It’s neither aligned with Wey’s technology-driven luxury approach, nor Ora’s trendy electric vehicle positioning, and it doesn’t match the pickup truck characteristics of Great Wall Poer.” According to Li.
The teaser images show that the car features a large chrome rear bumper, a rounded and elongated body, and a long string of letters as an identifier in the rear.

In addition to this teased new brand, GWM is also making moves in its high-end market strategy. In early 2025, the automaker announced the establishment of the “Ultra Luxury Vehicle Business Group,” headed by Chairman Wei Jianjun, with plans to launch vehicles priced over one million yuan (142,000 USD).

In November, GWM sold 133,200 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 4.57%, bringing its 2025 cumulative sales so far to 1,199,700 units, a year-on-year increase of 9.26%, setting a new record for the same period. In particular, GWM sold 40,113 new energy vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 11.43%, with cumulative sales of 243,500 units in 2025. In the overseas markets, GWM sold 57,309 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 32.70%, with cumulative sales of 368,700 units from January to November.
