Avatr, a premium intelligent electric vehicle brand collaborated by CATL, Changan, and Huawei, has officially released images of its updated Avatr 12 model. The refreshed coupe SUV has also been filed with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in the latest filings, signaling upgrades to its intelligent driving assistance system and a new, more powerful tri-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) option. The new Avatr 12 is expected to start at approximately 300,000 to 320,000 yuan (42,900 to 45,700 USD).

The exterior design of the new Avatr 12 largely maintains the aesthetic of the current model, featuring LED lighting integrated into the front bumper. A notable enhancement is the upgrade to a top-mounted LiDAR system. This new setup is anticipated to incorporate Huawei’s latest LiDAR technology.

From the side, the vehicle retains its characteristic fastback silhouette. Two additional LiDAR units are positioned on the front fenders, and the door handles have been redesigned to a semi-hidden style. Customers will have a choice of 20-inch and 21-inch wheel designs. The dimensions of the new Avatr 12 are 5020mm in length, 1999mm in width, and 1470mm (or 1460mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 3020mm.

The rear of the vehicle continues with its enclosed rear window design, complemented by an electrically retractable hidden rear spoiler. The single-strip taillights offer a visual signature when illuminated. The rear bumper features a sporty design with a recessed license plate frame integrated into the liftback tailgate. An optional sport package includes a body-colored rear bumper and a rear diffuser decorative panel.
