Nissan NX8 with 800V and 5C charging revealed: a new contender in the mid-size SUV market

Dongfeng Nissan has revealed the new NX8, a contender in the mid-size SUV segment. The five-seat vehicle measures 4870 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1680 mm in height, with a 2917 mm wheelbase.

The SUV showcases Nissan’s V-motion design language, updated with the industry’s longest 2.4-meter continuous star halo lights. The exterior is complemented by a sleek, flat light-up logo and a matrix-style headlight assembly.

At the rear, the NX8 features a tail light design made up of 2064 OLED units, allowing for customizable lighting patterns. In terms of technology, the NX8 incorporates features like LiDAR and smart driving assists, including the NOA for both high-speed and urban navigation, as well as intelligent parking assistance.

Internally, the NX8 steps up with a dual-screen layout for the central and passenger displays, paired with a heads-up display for a futuristic driving environment.

Under the hood, the NX8 offers two variants: a range-extended version featuring a 1.5T turbocharged engine generating 109 kW, alongside an electric motor with peak power reaching 195 kW (241 hp). This variant is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery, enabling a top speed of 180 km/h and offering pure electric ranges of 102 km and 185 km.

The pure-electric version comes with a single motor option, producing maximum power outputs of either 215 kW (288 hp) or 250 kW (335 hp). The SUV utilizes an 800V high-voltage platform paired with new-generation CATL lithium iron phosphate cells, delivering 5C fast charging capabilities. Its top speed remains at 180 km/h, with ranges of 580 km / 565 km and 650 km / 630 km options.

The NX8 is set to make its public debut in the first half of the year. It’s worth mentioning that the NX8 is the first overseas brand NEV SUV to have both an 800V high-voltage platform and 5C ultra-fast charging technology.
