GAC Aion N60 design sketches revealed: former BMW designer Benoit Jacob’s work
GAC Aion has released a series of design sketches for its upcoming N60 electric SUV, offering a first glimpse at the vehicle’s styling direction. The compact electric SUV, slated to begin pre-sales in mid-March 2026, showcases a minimalist aesthetic led by renowned automotive designer Benoit Jacob.
Jacob, who previously worked at BMW, has a portfolio that includes iconic vehicles such as the first-generation BMW i3 and i8, BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé (F36), Audi A5 Sportback (B8), and BMW 5 Series GT (F07).
The design sketches reveal a clean, understated approach to the N60’s styling. Both front and rear feature distinctive light bars that span the width of the vehicle, integrated with the Aion brand insignia. The side profile maintains the minimalist theme with simple, uncluttered lines, while the rear echoes design elements from the front fascia. Silver underbody protection adds subtle crossover styling cues.
According to official specifications, the N60 measures 4,615mm in length, 1,860mm (or 1,883mm) in width, and 1,673mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775mm. The compact SUV emphasizes interior space with a five-seat layout that will include standard zero-gravity massage seats.
In terms of powertrain options, the Aion N60 will offer two electric motor configurations with maximum outputs of 110 kW (148 hp) and 165 kW (221 hp), paired with lithium iron phosphate battery packs. The vehicle will achieve CLTC driving ranges of 410km, 510km, or 630km, depending on the configuration. GAC notes that the N60 employs amorphous alloy electric drive technology to enhance energy efficiency.
The production model, which has already been showcased, features front-wheel drive, LiDAR capability, and standard highway driving assistance across all trim levels. The charging port is positioned on the front fender on the passenger side.
Aion was founded in 2018 as a new energy brand under GAC Group. The Aion’s domestic model line includes eight vehicles. The N60 will become the brand’s ninth car.
