BYD has just released images of its Seal 08 flagship sedan undergoing winter testing.

Earlier in December 2025, BYD officially announced its “Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagship” models: the Seal 08 sedan and the Sealion 08 SUV, at its Ocean Day user celebration event, also the fourth anniversary of the Ocean series. It is reported that both new models are expected to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2026.

These two models represent BYD’s continued expansion into the high-end market, following the Seal 07 and Sealion 07, and are directly aimed at the mid-to-large premium new energy vehicle market.

However, as of now, BYD has not yet released more detailed information about the Seal 08. Built based on BYD’s Ocean S concept car, the Seal 08 is expected to be equipped with BYD’s latest technologies including megawatt fast charging and second-generation Blade batteries.

Looking at the camouflaged images, a roof lidar is present in the front, indicating advanced driving assistance system, which is expected to feature BYD’s latest generation of “God’s Eye” B functions.

From the side, the BYD Seal 08 features a long front overhang, a short rear overhang, and hidden door handles.

Look closely at the front, the sharp headlight outlines are visible.

In the future, there will also be Seal 09 and Sealion 09 models, creating a “5678” series of these two lineups.

Currently, the BYD Ocean Series consists of the Seal, Sealion, Seagull, and Dolphin lineups. The series sold 2.22 million vehicles in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 14.05%, bringing its cumulative sales to more than 6.2 million units since its first launch in 2021.

In particular, the BYD Seagull had sold more than 1.28 million units since its launch, including 529,500 units sold in 2025. The Seal series sold 518,400 units in 2025.
