Arcfox debuted world’s first MPV with roll cage and magnetorheological adaptive suspension system
On February 9, BAIC Arcfox’s new high-end sub-brand “Wendao” officially debuted, along with its first mid-to-large EREV MPV model, the Wendao V9. The new car is the first MPV globally to utilize an integrated roll cage and magnetorheological intelligent chassis. Its official market entry is expected to be in the second quarter of 2026.
The magnetorheological adaptive suspension system acts as the “intelligent control center,” adjusting damping in real time through magnetic fields, with a response frequency of up to 1000 times per second, 10 to 30 times faster than traditional continuous damping control systems. For example, the system can complete adjustments instantaneously upon encountering bumps.
An all-aluminum double wishbone and five-link suspension are also present.
In November 2025, this MPV appeared at the Guangzhou Auto Show and was also exposed by the Chinese MIIT. Dimensionally, the Wendao V9 is 5300 mm long, 1980 mm wide, and 1850 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3200 mm, offering a seven-seater layout. It has a gross weight of 3135 kg and a curb weight of 2580 kg.
In the front, the Wendao V9 has a full-width LED light strip and a waterfall-style large grille embedded with the Arcfox brand logo. The rear continues the full-width taillight design and is equipped with intelligent driving indicator lights. Conventional door handles are also ultilized.
The onboard 1.5T range extender powertrain system consists of a 1.5T engine with a maximum power output of 118 kW (158 hp), electric motor with 227 kW (304 hp), and lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The vehicle’s top speed is 190 km/h. Arcfox also claimed the Wendao V9 has a comprehensive range of 1500 kilometers.
