Over 380,000 units sold: Xiaomi discontinues first-gen SU7 as new model approaches
Xiaomi founder, Chairman and CEO Lei Jun has announced that production of the first-generation Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle has officially ended, with the final unit rolling off the assembly line recently. During a livestream on February 10, Lei revealed that the last SU7 produced was olive green and destined for an owner in Xi’an, currently in transit for delivery.
The first-generation SU7, which began deliveries in April 2024, has achieved remarkable success in the Chinese electric vehicle market, with Lei Jun confirming that total deliveries exceeded 381,000 units in less than two years of production. This figure includes approximately 130,000 vehicles delivered in the first nine months of 2024, followed by about 258,000 units throughout 2025.
The Xiaomi SU7 dominated the premium sedan segment in 2025, becoming the sales champion among all sedans priced above 200,000 yuan (28,700 USD), including both electric and conventional fuel vehicles. It’s also the first electric vehicle to outsell the Tesla Model 3 in China.

The success of the first-generation SU7 has been attributed to its strategic pricing, high-performance specifications, and synergies with Xiaomi’s broader ecosystem of products and services, making it a phenomenon in the 200,000-300,000 yuan (28,700 – 42,800 USD) electric sedan market.

As production lines transition completely to the new generation model, Lei Jun announced that the next iteration of the SU7 will officially launch in April 2026, with pre-sale prices ranging from 229,900 to 309,900 yuan (32,800 to 44,300 USD). The new model will feature comprehensive upgrades to its exterior and interior design, equipment specifications, and powertrain.

Display vehicles of the new SU7 have already started arriving at dealerships, and Lei Jun mentioned that demonstration models will be available in flagship stores across major Chinese cities beginning February 13, allowing potential customers to experience the vehicle and place orders during the transition period between generations.
