BYD’s premium brand Denza announced on Weibo that the updated Z9 GT will make its official debut on March 5, 2026. Regulatory filings from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) confirm that the shooting brake will feature a maximum pure-electric range of 1,036 km, the longest currently recorded for a mass-produced BEV in China.

The March 5 debut is part of a flagship technology event where BYD is expected to showcase its next-generation hardware suite. This includes the official introduction of the Blade Battery 2.0, the DM 6.0 hybrid system, and the commercial rollout of the 1,500 kW “Flash-Charging” network alongside the DiPilot 300 “God’s Eye” 5.0 ADAS.

Technical and Exterior Updates

The updated model introduces a roof-mounted LiDAR system supporting the DiPilot 300 “God’s Eye” 5.0 advanced driving assistance system. A new blue smart-driving indicator light has been added to the exterior to signal the activation of autonomous mode. The vehicle measures 5,195 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height, maintaining a 3,125 mm wheelbase. New 21-inch wheel designs and a “Fjord Green” paint option have been added to the lineup.+1

Inside, the Z9 GT retains its triple-screen architecture, comprising a 17.3-inch central floating display and dual 13.2-inch screens for the instrument cluster and passenger. Significant interior changes include a move to a column-mounted gear shifter and a new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.+1

Powertrain and Charging Infrastructure

The BEV variant now offers both single-motor RWD and tri-motor AWD configurations. The new RWD version utilises a 370 kW (496 hp) motor, while the AWD model features a combined output of 850 kW (1,140 hp)—an increase of 140 kW over the previous 710 kW (952 hp) version.

Recent field sightings confirm the Z9 GT is being used to test BYD’s new “flash-charging” infrastructure. Test mules were spotted at experimental 1,500 kW charging terminals, which utilise liquid-cooled connectors to manage the high thermal load. This hardware is designed to support the 122.5 kWh Blade battery packs found in the updated Z9 GT, potentially reducing charging times significantly below current 800V standards.

Market Positioning

The Denza Z9 GT competes in the high-performance luxury segment against the Zeekr 001 and Porsche Taycan. While January 2026 sales for the Z9 GT PHEV totalled 59 units during a seasonal market trough, the model previously surpassed 10,000 deliveries in its first four months of launch in late 2024. The 1,036 km range variant utilises BYD’s 122.5 kWh battery pack, while the PHEV version adopts a 63.82 kWh pack for 400 km CLTC electric range.
