GAC Hyptec officially launched its A800, a new mid-to-large sedan developed in deep collaboration with Huawei. The A800 is available in four variants, with a price range set between 189,800 yuan (27,500 USD) and CNY 299,800 (43,400 USD). The GAC Hyptec A800 stands out with its integration of Huawei’s Qiankun ADS V4.1 system and the HarmonySpace 5 intelligent cockpit.

The A800 inherits GAC Hyptec’s “Mountain and Sea Architecture” design philosophy, boasting a commanding presence with a 1.31 width-to-height ratio. It features a classic three-box sedan structure complemented by a sleek fastback profile. .

The frameless doors contribute to a visually cleaner and more transparent look. The vehicle measures 5130mm in length, 1966mm in width, and 1500mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3020mm.

Inside, the A800 features a wraparound cockpit design, equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 27-inch W-HUD (Windshield Head-Up Display), and a 15.6-inch central control screen. The A800 is coupled with active noise cancellation technology and a 23-speaker ADiGO Sound audio system.

The rear seating in the four-seater version features “2+1” transforming seats. This allows for flexible switching between a four-seat and five-seat configuration.

Under the hood, the GAC Hyptec A800 is powered by a range-extended system comprising a 1.5T engine and electric motors. The range extender engine delivers a maximum power output of 160 hp. Depending on the configuration, the electric motors offer either 272 hp (rear-mounted single motor) or 598 hp (triple-motor setup for the top-spec model), enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 4 seconds for the latter.

The vehicle is equipped with a 35.03 kWh battery pack, providing a WLTC pure electric range of 178 kilometres or 163 kilometres, depending on the specific variant. The A800 also features a dual-chamber air suspension system combined with SDC electromagnetic suspension.

A key technological highlight is the “triple-motor distributed all-wheel-drive” system, which actively distributes torque across the front and rear axles, as well as between the left and right rear wheels. This system not only enables manoeuvres like “compass turns” but also enhances safety with its high-speed tyre blowout prevention capability. In the event of a tyre blowout at speeds up to 120 km/h, the system can apply counter-yaw moments to correct the vehicle’s posture, ensuring stability and control.

For driver assistance, the new vehicle is equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS V4.1 driving assistance system. The top-trim model also features Huawei’s newly debuted 896-line LiDAR, the highest-spec mass-produced LiDAR in the world, which is the same hardware configuration used in HIMA’s luxury sedan Maextro S800.
